About Latin Therapy

Frequently mistaken for a dance class or Hispanic support group, Latin Therapy is in fact the Latin reading group at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge.

We meet every Friday from 4.00 to 5.30 pm at the Department (map), for informal translation and discussion of texts in Latin from the history of science, technology or medicine.  Latin can be a tricky language, and over the ten years that the group has been running, our collective mind has succeeded in deciphering countless passages which had previously stumped individual members.  Many of these passages have been published for the first time in one of our four booklets.

We continue to welcome new members, at all levels of Latin (including beginners).  Some members bring us Latin texts that are troubling them, others just come to brush up their language skills.  All enjoy the tea and biscuits!

If you'd like to join the group, or have any queries about our work or publications, please contact our current secretary, Seb Falk ().
